Message from District Governor

Dear Rotary Members, Family, and Friends,

You are cordially invited to the Rotary International District 3310 Conference (DISCON) 2024, set to take place in the enchanting city of Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia from May 17th to May 19th, 2024, hosted by the Rotary Club of Kuching, together with RC Kuching Central, RC Kuching South, RC Kuching Jaya, RC Kuching Unity City, and RC Urban Kuching.

Under the theme "Celebrating Hope," this event will be a jubilant commemoration of our efforts in upholding our mission to "Create Hope in the World." It presents a splendid opportunity to connect with fellow Rotary members and friends. Notably, DISCON precedes the RI Convention in Singapore, making it an ideal stopover for Rotary members worldwide, with Kuching being just over an hour's flight away.

Kuching is a magnetic attraction for those who appreciate culture, nature, delectable cuisine, and the warmth of its inhabitants. 

DISCON 2024 will offer a range of engaging activities, including an exciting round of golf at Sarawak Golf Club, a welcome dinner on the scenic banks of the Sarawak River, a thought-provoking conference featuring distinguished speakers, and a Governor's Banquet that promises to be unforgettable.

To cap off our conference, we aim to set a record in the Malaysia Book of Records for the largest gathering of people in ethnic wear, culminating in a choreographed dance. This spectacle will spotlight the rich diversity of our world and underscore its significance within Rotary.

In March 2023, before assuming my role as District Governor, I announced the adoption of a baby orangutan born in the wild in Sarawak. At DISCON, we will have the privilege of witnessing the signing of its birth certificate, officially naming him Hope, commemorating our Rotary theme for 2023-24, “Create Hope in the World”. 

Let us unite in Kuching, Sarawak, to transform DISCON 2024 into a memory to cherish forever.  Looking forward to meeting each one of you, to foster new connections, and kindling the flame of hope that Rotary spreads throughout the world.
