The Rotary Happiness Fund 3Gen Environmental Program

An inter-generational green initiative and community service project to increase interaction and communication between the youths, older adults and needy elderly in Singapore

A PRESERVE PLANET EARTH & CARE FOR SILVER PROJECT By Rotary International District 3310

Students from the Interact Club of ITE College East – a youth service club under Rotary International District 3310 are taking the lead to organize Green on Me – an inter-generational tree planting initiative cum luncheon for needy senior citizens at Punggol Park Connector on Saturday, 30 June 2012 from 8am to 12.30pm.

A “Preserve Planet Earth” and “Care for Silver” project by Rotary International, Green on Me is held to benefit the Plant-a-Tree program by the Garden City Fund and needy elderly from NTUC Eldercare centre and Nee Soon South CC. Participants contribute S$200 to the Garden City Fund for each tree planted. The fund is managed by NParks and disbursed for maintenance of trees as well as studies and research on the environment and protection of local natural resources.

The green initiative and community service project is co-organised with Rotary E-club of 3310 in collaboration with Rotary Clubs in the District, the Institute of Parks and Recreation Singapore, the Nature Society (Singapore), the Youth Council from the United Nations Association of Singapore and Marina Country Club.

Funded by the Rotary Happiness Fund, the project will engage 3 generations in order to bridge the interaction and social gap between the youths, older adults and needy elderly via a fun interactive program. The program includes laughing yoga, nature walk, tree planting, an interactive environmental learning session and lunch at the Marina Country Club.

Green on Me was initiated to invite the public’s involvement in building a sustained support for elder care and environmental protection in order to create a more inclusive and environmentally responsible society in Singapore.
