My Fellow Rotarians,
Greetings and trust this email finds all of you in the best of health always.
The last week or so we have several installations taking place all over the District. Kalimah and I were able to attend two of those installations, that of the Rotary of Kota Kinabalu South and the Rotary Club of Tawau Tanjung. Both were truly successful occasions with speeches of achievements made and with promises of expectations amidst the good food, music and the excellent fellowship. Both of us had enjoyable evenings.
This coming weekend, Kalimah and I will be in Singapore beginning Friday to attend to several Rotary events.
We will begin the Saturday by attending the opening ceremony of the Rotaract District Assembly at 11.0 am. This is followed by the opening ceremony of the annual Interact Training Camp organized by the Rotary Club of Singapore at 12 noon. From there we will proceed to attend the meeting of RC Garden City. In the evening we will attend the 1st Joint Presidential Meeting of all the Presidents of clubs in Singapore to be hosted by President Tapan Rao of the Rotary Club of Singapore. Sunday will be spent on meetings with other Rotary leaders before leaving for the airport in the late afternoon.
I have to apologize to the Rotary Club of Luyang for having to miss their installation evening this weekend as I have committed to the events in Singapore much earlier.
While preparing my speech for the aforesaid opening of the Rotaract District Assembly, I was provided with the latest situation of Rotaract clubs in our District. I realized the urgent need to help these Rotaract clubs especially those outside of Singapore. I therefore call upon all the ponsoring Rotary clubs to give immediate attention to help STRENGHTEN those Rotaract clubs under them. One of the best ways to do this is to assist them in their membership drive. On my part, I will give special attention to those issues confronting the Rotaract Clubs hoping to resolve most of them, if not all, during this Rotary Year.
My official visit to clubs will begin from the month of September onward and target to end before the District Conference in Kota Kinabalu this 18th-20th November. Fine tuning is now being done to the visit program and will be given to all Assistant Governors and Club Presidents once finalized.
I wish to once again urge all Rotarians to give their full support to the forthcoming Membership Seminars which is scheduled to start on the 6th August in Kota Kinabalu and in Tawau the next day and thereafter on the 20th in Kuching. Singapore, Johor and Malacca will have theirs in the month of September.
Several clubs are yet to submit their Planning Guide for Effective Rotary Clubs and Membership Goals. Please do soonest as we don’t want the District to be too often reminded by RI of submission deadlines.
I understand that all Assistant Governors by this time have completed their visit to clubs under them. I will be contacting all of you soon to discuss on the outcome of your visits.
