CALLING FOR ROTARIANS TO JOIN THE 26TH PAN BORNEO INTER CLUB MEET
Kuching, 15 to 17 November 2013

The Rotary Club of Kuching Central is indeed very honoured to be given this opportunity to host the 26th Pan Borneo Inter Club Meet in Kuching, Sarawak.

The Pan Borneo Inter Club Meet is a unique event in Rotary District 3310 as it brings together all the Rotary clubs in Sarawak, Sabah, Brunei Darussalam & Labuan F. T. as well as any other interested Rotary clubs in our District and other Districts to a gathering of fun learning and entertainment. At the same time, we Rotarians can do good in the world by implementing a meaningful project that can benefit our local community.  After all, Rotary is service through fellowship.

On behalf of the Organising Committee and members of the Rotary Club of Kuching Central, I would like to welcome all of you, Rotarians, spouses and guests to the 26th Pan Borneo Inter Club Meet in our friendly and beautiful city of Kuching, Sarawak.  It is always a great pleasure to welcome our Rotary Families to Kuching.

During this event, we have invited a few distinguished speakers who will share useful information on Rotary & non-Rotary related matters that can benefit you such as:

  1. PP Dr Siva Ananthan (from RC Greater Kuala Lumpur of D3300): 'Rotary Excellence' (brought to you by popular demand in the last District Assembly)

  3. Ms Ung Su Ling, CEO of Yayasan Rakyat 1 Malaysia: 'Improving the community in partnership with Rotary'

  4. Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian, formerly Head of Department of Cardiology & Head of Clinical Research Center : 'Love Your Heart'

  5. PDG Muhammad Faiz Kidwai, Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator (RRFC): 'The Art of Giving'

We hope to make this 26th Pan Borneo Inter Club Meet a gathering of fun learning and entertainment with lots of opportunity to enjoy fellowship, renewal of friendship and to meet acquaintances. 

Pan Borneo Project
In conjunction with this event, a Rotary Pan Borneo Landscape and Beautification Project will be carried out in a prominent area at the Sarawak Heart Centre,  Kota Samarahan.  As is the tradition of the Pan Borneo Inter Club Meet, this Pan Borneo Project will be funded with RM1,000  contribution from each Rotary club located in Pan Borneo. We would like to respectfully request for your club’s (only for Rotary clubs located in East Malaysia, Brunei and Labuan F.T.) contribution to be remitted to the Rotary Club of Kuching Central by 15 October 2013.

This project will complement the refurbishment works that will be carried out on an unused old site building for conversion into a hostel at the Sarawak Heart Centre to provide free accommodations for the poor and underprivileged needy people from the rural areas and those from outside Kuching to stay while attending to their loved ones who are undergoing heart treatment at the Centre.

This Rotary Landscape and Beautification Project will meet the following objectives and provide for the following benefits:

  • Create a greater awareness for and promotion of our green environment
  • Provide for, in an area outside the hospital wards, a tranquil and peaceful environment for the heart patients, where they can relax and to recuperate, and to enjoy the greenery together with their accompanying relatives
  • Provide a green lung for the doctors and other healthcare providers and an environment where they can relax and recharge in order to enhance their works in the provision of medical care to the patients
  • As this is a high profile hospital frequently visited by Ministers, VIPs and other dignitaries, the project will enhance the Rotary Brand and create better public  awareness of the works we do in Rotary – in doing good in the world.


The success of this Pan Borneo Inter Club Meet is dependent on the participation and involvement of all the Rotary clubs in Borneo.  It will be good to have representation from all the clubs in our District, especially those from Borneo. This is because at the time this message is written we already have registered attendees from Rotary clubs outside of Pan Borneo including Rotarians from D3300.
