ed-wifeZainie Abdul Aucasa, was born in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia in 1954.  He had his primary education at St. John School, Beaufort, Sabah and then at Stella Marris School in Kota Kinabalu.  He took his secondary education at La Salle Secondary School, Kota Kinabalu and went on to complete his Diploma in Accountancy at the Mara Institute of Technology, Shah Alam, Selangor.  After working for a year with a power utility company in Sabah, he went to the United Kingdom to pursue his studies in Accountancy at the London School of Accountancy.

After the completion of his studies, Zainie worked with Sabah Electricity Board for few years as its Senior Accountant and then eventually as its Chief Accountant.  In 1994, he joined Sabah Forest Industries as its Financial Controller.  In 1995, when the Government of Sabah then intended to set up a financial conglomerate for the State of Sabah, Zainie was slected to spearhead the formation, restructuring and listing of that conglomerate, now known as Suria Capital Holdings Berhad, which was eventually listed on the Main Board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange on 25 November 1996.  He was appointed as its first General Manager / Financial Controller, a position he held until 2005, when he was appointed to spearhead the development of a mega waterfront project in Kota Kinabalu.

Zainie is a Fellow Certified Chartered Accountants (FCCA), United Kingdom and member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, member of the Association of Certified Accountant, Malaysia and the founding member of the Sabah Society of Certified Accountants.

Zainie joined Rotary as member of the Rotary Club Kota Kinabalu in  April 1997 and was its President in 2006/2007.  He has served as director in various positions in the Club.  On the District Level, Zainie was the Deputy District Secretary in 2008/2009, Chairman of the District DG Newsletter 2008/2009, member of the Avoidable Blindness District Committee 2008/2009 and 2009/2010, and Chairman of the District Assembly for the year 2008/2009.  He is also a member of the District Audit Committee for the year 2009/2010.  Zainie is a Paul Harris Society member (PHF) and a Jamil Rais Fellow.

Zainie is also involved in several charitable and environmental activities through his membership in the Sabah Wetland Society (one of the founding member) and in the Sabah Environmental Action Committee.  He is the current President of the Sabah Archery Association and past Hons. Secretary of the Malaysian Scout Association (Sabah Branch).  For his contributions to the society, he was awarded two State Awards, namely the Bintang Setia Kinabalu (BSK) and the Ahli Setia Darjah Kinabalu (ASDK).

He is happily married to Hajjah Kalimah Ekwan and has 3 lovely grown up children, namely Ernie, Suffian and Zulkainie.  Ernie graduated from the University of East London and currently working as an accountant.  Suffian has completed his Engineering studies at Monash University, Kuala Lumpur and currently working in a property development company.  Zulkainie is pursuing a professional accountancy studies at the Sunway University in Kuala Lumpur.

Zainie’s hobbies are photography and traveling.  He believes that “Life is a gift.  Live it, enjoy it, celebrate it and fulfill it.”
