PHILLIPINES FLOOD VICTIMS — Appeal by DG

Dear Presidents, Secretaries, AGs, and Rotarians, I have recently learned about the Philippines’ appeal for international aid to urgently help out the flood victims caused by Typhoon Ketsana. After consultation with PDG Dr Wu and PP Dr Ho, the advisor and the chair of the district disaster relief committee respectively, I have decided that we should offer our assistance in whatever way possible. This is the time to act and to use the opportunity to serve humanity and our neighbours in bad times. The district will provide the initial donation of USD1,000 to kick start a fundraising effort. Donations collected will be sent to our Philippines Rotary friends soonest. I wish to announce that PP Dr Ho Loon Shin, as Chair of District Disaster Relief Committee, to take charge of relief effort.
