Fund-raising for Typhoon Haiyan Disaster – donation update 4

Dear Rotarians, Would you believe we hit RM207,000 in just over 4 days! It is true — see list below. Day 1 – 29,000 to Day 2 – 70,000 to Day 3 – 117,000… I wish to answer a question: Is there a dateline to remit funds? Well, we will continue this donation drive for a few weeks. Because of the urgency of the disaster, we hope to remit the collected funds as soon as possible to the Philippines. So, we appreciate early submission by clubs and individuals. In the Pan Borneo meet tonight, I will make a special appeal to people who have yet to donate. I wish to stress that even a donation of a few dollars is very valuable in the shared mission to help out. It is the significance of the contribution that counts. Giving matters for people who have lost everything. The Malay proverb is apt here: “Sedikit, sedikit, lama lama jadi bukit”. Meaning: a little here, a little there, we can build a mountain of joy. I have spouse of a Rotarian in Johor doing just that on the ground on her own initiative collecting any cash amount. And she is happily remitting me good money daily. Similarly, please think about it, doing it in your own club. Thank you very much.
