Apologies: a late update after 3 days of no news.
There is no electricity in certain places – that means
no Wifi or internet connection.
Today, I finally met DG Edgar of D3860 at the club meeting
in RC Cebu to know more about his district disaster relief plans.
He told me the funds from us will mostly benefit Leyte and Samar
island victims very soon; the focus is right indeed.
He will also concentrate on rehabilitation projects to repair schools
because most of the food needs there are well looked after.
Rtn Elly Ho went to Samar Island to survey the disaster area.
I expect to see him tomorrow to get some info.
I have also communicated DG Mark of D3850 and told him
I could not visit Roxas this time. I think PP Roger Ng has
reported about his visit and relief mission work there on Monday.
I am very impressed by many Rotarians (Robin, Bobong, Jonathan, others)
in RC Cebu who are going all out to assist logistics so that supplies
that arrive in Cebu port are forwarded to reach Tacloban or Ormoc
right away, like:
70 Aqua boxes are being sent tomorrow.
Tents from Israel Government & Dubai already sent.
17 containers of hygiene kits from Procter and Gamble soon.
? containers of goods from Singapore & Hong Kong soon?
14 to 15 metric tons of fish (or pork, chicken, beef) per week to Leyte.
Rotarians in RC Tacloban and Ormoc are working under very difficult
conditions with limited resources and funds.
There are so many many volunteers from all over the world in Leyte helping out.
Really, a cornucopia concentrating in Tacloban.
I am leaving to Tacloban again tomorrow and may not have internet service.
