Dear Rotarians, The new high: RM466,000 We are pleased that district 3860 and 3310 are collaborating by the minute on the purchase of ten hand-operated water filter system in Singapore, and sending them over to Cebu by UPS service. These will be used in rural Samar and Leyte. Well done RC Cebu (4 units) and Rotary Eclub of 3310 (2 units) for getting the act together. D3310 disaster fund will pay for 4 units. DG Edgar from D3860 told me he had a valuable experience on his visit to Tacloban on Tuesday, and he is mobilising his force on the ground to get relief aids moving, using the newly set-up Relief Centre in Tacloban as the coordinating nerve centre to cover East Leyte and Samar. DG Edgar says: “Yes we have a working plan to send the relief goods to Tacloban from our Surigao port. The Rotarians involved in this are the district officers and members of the 5 clubs in Butuan. They are set to go on Monday barring any unforeseen problems. We disbursed over Php 2.5 million for the two relief operations. coming from Cebu and the other from Mindanao. And since you have indicated that you wanted your donated funds to be used right away, this will be the relief mission that will cover your donation. I hope you are okay with this, if not please let me know. President Joel of RC Tacloban is in charge of determining the sites who will receive the relief goods. We had a meeting with Bobong, Joel, Boboy and SAG Walter Diu that Joel will be the point person in Tacloban and its vicinities and Samar. In fact when Bobong goes there this Thursday, this is specifically what he will discuss with Joel and Boboy. We had asked all the presidents (5) from Tacloban to attend this meeting…” By the way, a few of my medical students plan to go to Tacloban to help out. Thank you.
