Dear Rotarians,
The new figure is RM365,000.
Well, DG Chew Ghim Bok and I have decided to allocate USD50,000
(2.18 million peso PHP) to District 3860, and USD20,000 (875,000
peso PHP) to District 3850 so that we can cover more areas and help
more affected people. By any standard, this (USD70,000) is impressive
and is going to be very timely and helpful.
And I am still waiting for news that the funds will be remitted to the
Philippines by today.
Both the DG of D3860 and 3850 have expressed — through telephone
calls and emails to me — their greatest gratitude and thanks to you all.
Rotarian Elly Ho from Rotary Eclub of 3310 will go to Cebu on Sunday,
and probably join a disaster team led by a visiting R.I. director in Cebu
(D3860) to carry relief work on coming Monday.
PP Roger Ng of RC Bugis Junction will go to Roxas city (D3850) on Monday
to do related disaster work. We wish them a safe trip.
Today, I will be away in KL to help out as a facilitator for the Rotary
Leadership Institute for D3300 till Sunday. In between sessions, I will
still write up updates as usual.
