I started my role as District First Lady the moment my husband started to attend installation dinners and club visits.
In fact I played a small role earlier during the District Assembly when I gladly stepped forward to raise some funds for the Johor Breast Cancer Support Group and the underprivileged children of three homes. This relatively small event has actually made a difference to those people who are in need of assistance.
My presence at Installation Dinners and during club visits have brought me closer to our Rotarian members and their spouses. At the same time it has provided me with an insight and knowledge of what the clubs have done for their communities and will be doing during this Rotary year.
The time we spent staying at hotels for the last 6 weeks is more the time we spent at home. It looks like this will be the same for the next few months!
So far what I have really enjoyed is the presence of many Rotary spouses during the club fellowship dinners as well as seeing the induction of new members especially lady members.
My visits to the Kidney Haemodialysis Centers in Kuching and Kulai and the Orang Kurang Upaya Homes for Children have touched my heart. I gained first hand knowledge of how Rotarians have been working hard to help underprivileged children and kidney patients so as to make a difference in their lives. I am very impressed with the generosity of the Rotary Club of Changi Singapore when I witnessed the handing over of the kidney dialysis machines worth RM257,800.00 to the Kulai Dialysis Centre during one of my visit recently. Congratulations to our Rotarians for their good and meaningful work in helping the needy in their communities.
