Membership of Rotary

To be admitted as a Rotarian you need to join as a member of a Rotary Club in your city i.e. where you live or work.

As at 31 December 2002, there were 31,314 Rotary Clubs worldwide with a total of 1.22 million Rotarians in 165 countries. You may check where Rotary Clubs meet anywhere in the world at www.rotary.org under “where clubs meet”. In our District 3310, click here to view or download the complete listing of where and when clubs meet.

If you are interested to find out more about Rotary and/or qualifications for becoming a member you may contact our Secretariat by E-mail to Dr Ho Loon Shin.

There are two kinds of membership, namely ACTIVE and HONORARY. Both types join by invitation only.

An ACTIVE member is an adult of good character and good business and professional reputation who is:

  1. a proprietor, partner, corporate officer or manager of any worthy and recognized business or profession, or
  2. a holder of an important position in any worthy and recognized business or profession or any branch or agency thereof and has executive capacity with discretionary power, or
  3. a retiree from any of the positions listed in (1) or (2) above.

An HONORARY member is invited to join a Rotary Club because he is recognized to be someone who has distinguished himself by meritorious service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals. Unlike an active member he may hold honorary positions in more than one club.
